Building a user-owned household finance platform
A working SwiftUI iPhone application and self-hosted platform designed around allocation budgeting, shared household authority, and user-owned financial data.
THE CONSTRAINT
Why the problem resisted an easy answer.
Most consumer budgeting products assume vendor-hosted data, recurring subscriptions, or a single decision-maker. This product needed deterministic accounting, useful household collaboration, and a local-first architecture without turning into another generic expense tracker.
Technical approach
- 01Defined the accounting and household-authority rules before interface polish
- 02Built the iPhone experience in SwiftUI around planning, accounts, transactions, and insight
- 03Designed the wider platform for self-hosting, auditable changes, forecasting, delegated access, backup, and recovery
THE USEFUL OUTCOME
Clarity that supports action.
Delivered a functioning pre-1.0 iPhone application and platform foundation with budgeting, account, transaction, household-access, audit, database, and deployment capabilities under active stabilization.
